Wedding's on board a cruise ship. Getting Married? |
|
Planning on getting married soon....? why not tie the knot on board a cruise ship with a cruise ship wedding. Think about it, getting married on board at the start of a cruise and then setting sail to a romantic destination of your choice. You don't even have to sail on afterwards, you can just get married on board, have the ceremony and lunch together and then head back home after, but I think the real essence of a cruise ship wedding is the actual cruise and time spent enjoying it together. Create Your Personalized Wedding Site If you do choose to cruise as a group, your cabins will be idyllically located together and the Maitre d will have the whole family and friends seated in one locaton for dinner. Make sure that all of the guests relevant info comes in as accurately as possible otherwise you might be seated appart for the first night. Cruise ship Weddings and ceremonies often take place in the home port on board, whilst the ship is docked (though not always). Some guests choose to get married shore side in a Caribbean island in the middle of the Cruise.Personally though, after seeing a friend of mines wife arrange this, I believe it's not a great idea. I think that the stress build up, whilst thinking about you're wedding day, will take away the actual enjoyment of the cruise itself. I would leave it to the company to organise it once all of your decisions and choices have been made. There are various wedding packages that are available from some cruise ship companies. (However not all cruise lines cater for weddings). Here they will offer you different options according to your budgets and needs. One very important option is the photographer, unless you want to capture your wedding day on your own cameras and o2 phones, I would recommend hiring a professional photographer from the ship´s crew. They will be present through out the entire ceremony clicking away to make sure that you don't miss a moment of your day. Make sure you enquire about this on booking.
You're Wedding Day, a piece of cake.....
After planning your date, choosing your dress, your husband -to- be's suit, flowers, cake, decorations, itinerary, etc, you will be met in the cruise ship terminal by a ships shore side wedding host on the big day. As soon as customs has cleared the ship, you and the wedding host will go on board. She will then introduce you to the on board wedding staff, normally a dining room hostess or a member of the social host's who will then take you to your cabins, or to a room where you can change if you are not sailing on afterwards. Your gets will be met at the gangway and they will be taken to the on board chapel where they will wait for you and your partner. After the chapel ceremony, depending on what you ordered pre cruise, you will be guided to a lounge for champagne,a lunch buffet and cake or to an on board restaurant where lunch will be served to you and your guests. I would suggest you bring your own CD's to be played, or you can rent an on board DJ for the duration of you luncheon party. If you are cruising, there will be no rush to exit the dining room or lounges, though if you need to leave before the cruise ship sets sail, then obviously there will be a departure time set by the ships representative. One last word, more so aimed towards the gentlemen. If you are like me and rarely wear a tux. then rent one for the occasion from the ship itself. The cruise company will be able too or should be able to provide you with all the shirts, jackets trousers and ties necessary for you and your friends if need be. Renewal of vowes. This is proving to be a more and more popular occurrence at sea. I saw it at least twice a week every week for 7 years. It is normally performed at sea with the Captain conducting the ceramony. Obviously there are packages available from many ship companies who will perform the ceremonies on board with you're partner and friends. Its normally done prior to your dining seating on a night of your choice. |
