Singles Cruises - Cruising Solo |
|
Singles cruises and why take one? Looking for quiet times, romance, fun, new friends, new future travel companions or simply you just need a break, singles cruises is what ever you make it. With 10% of travellers on board taking single cruises on most large ships, you can make the best of what´s on offer. With most land based holiday resorts being dominated by families, couples and lovers, cruising in my opinion, is a good option for all of the above.
Singles Cruises. It does not matter what age bracket you are in, there are singles cruises to accommodate all. Singles cruises for seniors, singles cruises for juniors for students, singles cruises for about anyone wanting solo adventure and travel. On board ship, we can help you meet like-minded, same age, solo travellers who are interested in making friends or simply looking to relax or have fun. Anyone who has taken a vacation alone in the past, particularly the ladies, knows just how awkward it can be, surrounded by large family groups occupying the hotels facilities all week. This is where singles cruises comes in to its own. I can assure you a relaxed, smooth and easy going atmosphere on board. By browsing below, I'll give you my personal feed back from my work experience as to what to expect when taking a singles cruise. Singles Cruises – Passenger List Break Down For reference I though you might like to see the singles cruises passenger ratio. Singles Cruises- Who will I be dining with?
As a singles cruises traveler, you should always be assigned to a table with other singles during dinner periods. It is simply not possible to give you each an individual table even if you did ask for one on booking. As a single cruiser you will be seated next to other single travellers of a similar age, so that you will not feel out of place or excluded. It is highly unlikely that the Maitre d' will assign you with a young family with children, or in between friends travelling together. If they do, ask to move on the first night. Don´t be shy. I always used the larger tables (pic), seating up to 8 to 10 passengers for singles cruise. I would assign 50%-50% males to females on them so that there is a nice mix at the dinner table. The larger table tops also gives you a choice of who you might, or might not, choose to talk to. Imagine being stuck on a small table with only 2 other "singles". PS. Dinner time is a very good way to make friends on board a singles cruise. It can be ideal to arrange following day excursions together, or simply couple up for after dinner drinks or disco the night away.
Singles Cruises - On Board Activities.
Singles Cruises - Quiet Times
If you are looking for some singles cruises quiet time to be alone, away from the masses, well fear not, there are plenty of locations on board for that afternoon snooze or book reading. The times vary, but as a rule, wait till the ship has docked and give it 2 hours. Most of the other guests will have gone ashore leaving you along with the other die hard peace seekers Look for the public sunbathing area´s aft (rear) of the ship, if your ship has it.These tend to be the most peaceful outdoor seating areas in port days (see pic). If not, the jogging deck up top, or what runs around the mid ship ship depending, the library, internet cafe, the cafe´s along the ships atrium area, the promanade deck, shopping area. The church or chapel might also be ideal. Avoid the lido deck, period. This is where the lido buffet is, the fast food outlets are, the beverage machines, the ice cream machines and the pool water slide. Get the picture. For The Ultimate Snooze, I would recommend to you, to use the Beauty salon´s facilities. They are up there, on the top deck. They should have there own terrace with pool, jacuzzi and quiet space. It will cost you and the reception will tell you how much, but they often have deals to take advantage of. Worth a look.
Singles Cruise - Come Dancing.
Are you are a singles cruises female traveler who likes to dance and waltz. Well there are plenty of cruise ships that employ armies of dance hosts just for you. For example, Crystal Cruises, Silver Seas, Queen Elizabeth 2, Holland America, NCL, Seabourn. They all have a team of shiny white shooed men on board ready to tango you off your feet during your after dinner dance. There might also be on board dance lessons if your really up for it. Of course you might just want a good ole fashion disco. Check before cruising that the ship has one, as some of the smaller ships don´t. They have found it more profitable to turn them into small casino´s or bridge club groups. Basically speaking, the bigger the ship the more to do as regards activities. The smaller the ship the focus is more on education and the itinarary.
Singles Cruises - Cruising in total Peace
Advise cabin with a balcony. for the ultimate in singles cruises Simple. This will automatically eliminate most of your woes if you want to be alone. Simply use room service for your meals, or if you dare venture out of your cabin to eat, ask the dining room host at the door for a single table during day time meals. Hint don´t just say for 1 person, ask for a "single table, alone," when you see them at the restaurants entrance. Check out the opening times and locations in your daily programme for all day time meals. They might change, daily, according to the ships times of arrival into port. Some ships might even close there restaurant in ports as there will be so few people left on board till dinner. NOTE: For your day time meals, the main dining rooms will always be quieter than the Lido buffets. Again check the programme for opening and closing times.
Bars for the singles cruises - The quieter ones are typically located outside the restaurants during the day. At night after dinner, I would suggest taking your drink to the lido when the pool is closed for cleaning. Other quiet places on board ship include libraries, internet cafes, terraces, spa, coffee shops and the Chapel. Whilst ashore, to avoid the crowds and buses, you can simply rent your own taxi for the day straight from the port gates. NOTE: You will be at your own risk however. You WILL NOT be covered. For example, if you miss the ship because you go stuck in a traffic jam coming back from Rome, YOU will be paying your flight ticket to the next port. The port agent will be there waiting at the port entrance for you with your passport.
